Although we maybe seasoned travelers, when it comes to traveling with a baby there seems to be a lot more concerns and many “what should I do…” For example, what to do with the bath, what to do about handkerchiefs, how to warm up milk, how to store bassinet/car seat/stroller… Here are some simple hacks that can help make your trip an easier one.

Comfy Seat

Whether you have arranged with your airlines for a bassinet, you may need to carry your child at some point during the flight (or, if you are taking a train you won’t have the luxury of a basinet).

Thermos: Short

When it comes to flying, heating milk maybe an issue. Whether you are formula feeding or heating up breast milk, the thermos will be your best friend. Shorter thermos can be filled with hot water after going through security from any airport hot water dispenser to heat up the milk. It will be faster than the regular bottle warmer at home.

Hack 1: Great makeshift sterilizer on-the-go. If you have scalding hot water, you can dip the pacifier or teething toy inside.

Hack 2: Great food heater on-the-go. If you have scalding hot water, you can heat up your baby’s food if it is in the pouch. Or, if your baby is older you can use the thermos to cook up pasta for a quick on-the-go meal.

Thermos: Long

Getting bottled room temperature water is easy, and this is when long water thermos is great if you are formula feeding as it can hold hot water which you can use for feedings throughout the flight, or day.

Hack: When going out, pre-fill the milk bottles with water so all you need is the formula and hot water, you can mix anywhere. Of course, when you are going through airport security the bottles should be empty.

Formula Container

Rather than taking out a huge container of formula and measuring each time. Buy a formula container. This nifty container can also be used to store snacks and treats for when baby gets older.

Drying Rack

Sometimes when we travel, having a laundry machine is hot an option. To keep the handkerchiefs clean and dry, you may need to hand wash it yourself. What happens if your hotel doesn’t have space for you to dry the handkerchiefs? Here is a nifty design that can transform any handle into a clothes hanger. This can easily fit 6 handkerchiefs.

Bath Tub

Tongs

This is helpful when sterilizing with hot water in the ice bucket of the hotel room. Unless you have sterilization tablets handy, then you may not need tongs at all.

More Travel Tips:

1. Go for flights that aligns closest to baby’s sleep time.

2. Try and get a bassinet when booking your seat.

3. If feeding time coincides with boarding time, board first and feed as other passengers make their way to their seats.

4. Rather than take your entire baby bag, just take out the necessities of formula/breast milk, thermos and diaper change (mat, diaper, wipe) and place it in the seat pocket in front of you.

Other tips:

* In advance check with airline about on-board luggage allowance including car seat and strollers.
